Toccoa River Fishing Report: October 21, 2024
Toccoa River Tailwater Report
Trout fishing on the Toccoa River has been a challenge the last couple of weeks. Turnover had the water temps in the high 60’s at Tammen Park. Thankfully these cooler nights have the water temps moving in the right direction. Fishing should start getting good any day now!
The delayed harvest section of the Upper Toccoa starts November 1st. With no rain in the forecast, those looking to wade the DH should have great success with the low water conditions. Once we get some rain, the DH is accessed much easier from a boat due to the deeper holes.
Small Creeks
The water temps have dropped significantly on the smaller creeks with the fall weather settling in. Make sure to approach the water and casting with more stealth since the creeks are still very low and clear from the lack of rain.
Fly Selection
Dry dropper setups are still getting the job done and we’ve been having luck with size 10-14 black and purple and orange chubby chernobly’s. We’re starting to see consistent stone flys and have had luck on size 10-14 mocha and olive rubber legs. Size 14-16 Pheasant Tails, soft hackle Hare’s Ear, and Rainbow Warriors have all been working as well.
As always, remember to check the Dam Generation Schedule before heading out to the river, and if you are interested in a guided trip we would love to give you the best experience!
Tight lines and happy fishing!
