MONTANA 2024
MONTANA 2023
Recently, we headed out to beautiful Montana for a week of fly fishing and good times! We landed around lunch time and made a quick pit stop by Montana Anglers to pick up some flies. With fresh flies in hand, the Gallatin River was our first stop for a couple hours of wade fishing. In MT, the fish are a huge plus, but you can easily get lost in the sheer beauty that surrounds you. After scratching the itch and catching a handful of trout on the Gallatin we made our way to Ennis. Last year was my first time in Ennis and I fell in love. With a population just shy of 1,000, Ennis is a Fly Fishing paradise. Once we checked into our hotel room we made our way down to the best local hang out spot, The Gravel Bar. At The G Bar, you can find a mix of local guides, clients and just all around good, genuine people that welcome you in and make you feel like family.
We spent the next 3 days with our good buddy and fellow guide, Doug Casey. He has been guiding in MT for close to 20 years. He’s dialed in and a blast to fish with! Over the next 3 days we floated the Madison and Jefferson. We fished a mix of dry-droppers, nymph rigs, and streamers. We were a little early in the season for hoppers but still managed to land a handful on the dry. It’s always a blast getting to explore new water and being in MT amplifies the adventure. We had an absolute blast and definitely planning to make this an annual trip! If you’ve never been I would HIGHLY recommend exploring and fishing this beautiful state.
