Toccoa River Fishing Report: April 18, 2025
Toccoa River Tailwater Report
Spring fly fishing in Blue Ridge, Georgia is in full swing! The Toccoa River is now being stocked weekly, bringing even more trout to the tailwater throughout the spring and summer months. With warmer weather and increased bug activity, the trout are more active and eager to feed. Whether you're a seasoned angler or planning your first trip, now is the perfect time to experience incredible fly fishing on the Toccoa River in Blue Ridge. As always, remember to check the Dam Generation Schedule before heading out to the tailwater.
Small Creeks
The smaller creeks in North Georgia are fishing great right now. Spring is the perfect time to break out smaller dry flies and nymphs for some incredible action. There’s nothing better than watching a trout rise on our beautiful mountain streams. Cooper’s Creek and Rock Creek have also started getting stocked again, making them excellent spots to hit with a fly rod this season.
Upper Toccoa River
The Upper Toccoa River has been fishing really well lately. Now is an ideal time to book a float trip and experience some incredible spring fly fishing. With more trout moving into the faster riffles, fishing from the boat has been a blast, offering lots of action and exciting opportunities for anglers. We’ve been seeing some solid caddis hatches lately, and on the right day, a good number of fish have been rising to the surface. It's a great time to have a dry fly ready! Always check the water gauge before heading out to the Upper Toccoa, we do not recommend wade fishing the Upper if the water is above 600 cfs.
Flies
With spring in full swing, we've been finding great success using Tan, Black & Purple, and Royal Chubby Chernobyls. Rubber legs in black, coffee, and olive have also been fishing really well. On the nymph side, soft hackle Hare’s Ears, Pheasant Tails, and Rainbow Warriors have been getting the job done and consistently putting fish in the net.
If you are interested in a guided trip we would love to have you in the boat!
Tight lines and happy fishing!
